Ready for an inside glimpse into the glorious #writerlife? My book (The Black Pill: A Genealogy of Political Violence) has been out circulating with the big, famous publishers for months. So far, six have turned it down.
But just in this round, there are six more to go. If I don’t get a deal from this dozen, there are scores more high-quality small publishers, dozens of arthouse publishers, plus academic and non-profit publishers, special interest, think tank, and foreign publishers, and on and on.
There’s nothing wrong with getting turned down a few times—all three of my previous books were turned down repeatedly. It’s normal, average, and typical.
I’m par for the course right now, and lots more fairway to play….
Cheering you on, Patrick.
