I HATE PODCASTS so you know its good when I’m listening. I’m devoted to “Third Squad: After Afghanistan,” by Elliott Woods. A veteran and journalist, Elliott went back, ten years later, to find the Marines he once embedded with in Afghan combat. Sobering, emotional, and at moments unbearably sad, this is a story of sacrifice and resilience, combat and loss, as they come to terms with—or just ignore—what happened to them. We trained them to kill, but we didn’t prepare them to be killers.
