I get it. The extremists on the right are careening away into sanity. But there are legit complaints about "legacy" media as well. As more and more of us are driven to Substacks, we are driven to our own echo chambers. What's the solution? We need to hear opinions, experiences, and perspectives that are very different than or own. So if you and others on the far left stay off of X, your voice won't be heard by those on the platform who seek to understand where you are coming from.

I think this is why the podcast bros are so popular. Joe Rogan sounds like your pretty-smart friend who wants to have a beer and complain about everybody. A lot of younger people only know that form of communication – a legacy media report on TV/video, or a factual but neutral article in newspaper style, is completely alien to them.

Well done, Patrick, well done. I always felt like I SHOULD be on Twitter (profession-wise), but I could never quite get myself to engage. Mostly, I didn't get how it really worked, thought I also knew that somehow it DID work. But then Elon Musk, father/sperm donor/DNA giver of 10 humans, cut fertility coverage at Twitter. That was the perfect excuse for me (OK - your reasons are much better, but that one is in my line of work) not to start Tweeting.
