I've been consuming as well - some of the same as you and some very different. How to find people with different takes than ourselves who are actually willing to discuss and debate in person? I do think we all need to spend some time figuring out our own roles in the outcomes - with an understanding that if the outcome wasn't what we hoped for or wanted, how can we first take some responsibility before pointing a finger at the other side? Again - we need more forums for discussion but here I am, posting!!
I am working on a post about constructive responses. Building community and real-world social strength. Somehow social media use/abuse is both the problem and technically necessary. This is how we communicate now, it can't all be face to face.
It's hard to figure out where to have this discussion--certainly not on Twitter, and maybe all social media are counterproductive. They will always prioritize "engagement" with our worst acts and making money off us. I get my reality check by either fishing (small towns, resource areas, rural poverty and traditional culture) or interviewing people. I recommend the latter. This is a giant social science research project.
